Black Wolf ; Turbo 240 ...... Review

Purchasing a tent can be a harrowing experience - there are a lot of choices out there and you have to do your homework.

For me canvas was a must, it had to be tough and durable. Weight and size was also an issue so in the end it came down to two choices, the OZ Tent (the 30 second tent) and the Black Wolf Turbo 240. Both tents are canvas and have a folding aluminium frame for quick erection.

The Black Wolf won hands down based on it's architecture, internal space and packaging. It's well engineered aluminium frame made it very robust when erected. It's internal head room, good ventilation (in the roof as well) and easy erection made the difference. Price was also a factor, I bought the B.W. for $450, a considerable saving on the OZ Tent of the same size.

The "fly" that comes with the B.W. allows the air to circulate up and over the inner skin; this makes the tent much cooler.
The frame is tubular aluminium with strong aluminium "knuckles" that allows the frame to fold for packing. These have a "pin-lock" system and seem well constructed.

The first night the B.W. was pitched it was tested to the max. I was camped at Black Rocks, in the Bungalong NP. A huge storm blew up, about 100mls of rain fell in a couple of hours - water was everywhere. The tent was as solid as a rock.
With only four tie down points it never shifted, dry as a bone; the tent felt very secure. I could not of been more happy with he Black Wolf Turbo 240.
